Wow. S'been awhile.

Mend0zA on Tuesday, March 6 2012 10:59 AM

I was only assistant manager for about 20 minutes.

This site seems to have broken fairly extensively.

Oh my...

Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, for the Nintendo Wii, might possibly be the worst videogame ever made. Certainly it's the worst I've ever played. It's not even bad in a good sort of way. I will, however, make it an annual thing to play it, because the Bumble is in it, and you can play most of the game as Yukon Cornelius, and that has to count for something.

*cough*

I fear I'm getting sick again.

Sigh.

Wooooo!

Assistant manager!

Things that are awesome, and things that are not.

Mend0zA on Saturday, July 17 2010 1:06 PM

You know what's awesome? Lightning setting off car alarms.

You know what isn't awesome? Stealth segments in videogames.

EARTHQUAKE!

Mend0zA on Wednesday, June 23 2010 3:15 PM

So big-ish earthquake just hit. I lost power for about an hour and a half, and the phonelines were down/mostly unavailable. They were so overwhelmed that Rogers was just barely able to send me a text message about new Extreme Text messaging.

Greetings from Washington DC!

We're in the airport waiting on the final flight.

Greetings from Austin! Again, again.

So we spent the day driving around again. We went down to Lockhart, the "home" of barbeque here in Texas. We went to Black's which seems to be "the" barbeque place. Good stuff, though it's not my favourite meal ever.

After that we went in search of cowboy hats. I think I got all I was after, and even Paul managed to find one. They didn't have a $5000 cowboy hat in stock, but we were able to check out some halfway decent $1100 hats. Also, the place that did the Rorschach hats for the Watchmen movie.

Greetings from Austin! Again.

I never even saw the pool. We went down to Kemah Boardwalk, and availed ourselves of a Texas Steakhouse. Patricia and I had tenderloin, and Paul had the Prime Rib. Good Stuff. Didn't go on any rides, but we pretty much arrived, and ate. No one was really feeling like rides after stuffing ourselves in the steakhouse. We've come back to Austin, because we have to fly out in 2 days, and we've still yet to check out the bat colony. We're doing laundry today (once we find some detergent not purchased/stolen by the biker rally that came through Austin a few days back), and probably once again try to hang out at the pool.

I also still need to find myself a cowboy hat.

Greetings from Houston!

Okay, so I wasn't able to wrest the computer away long enough to update the last couple days. Camping was very, very hot. It's unseasonably cool in Texas, apparently, to the point where the first night of camping was actually a record low, but that didn't stop me from sweating about a pound and a half off. 2nd day of camping we went and checked out the Natural Bridge Caverns. They were awesome. Pictures are no doubt coming soon. Then we returned for Pool fun, and then back to the sweat lodge.

Next day we went Go-Karting, and miniputt. Too much sun, perhaps. Patricia and Paul were zonked out afterwords, so we hung out in a scuzzy hotel in San Antonio, after once again checking out the Riverwalk.

Yesterday we headed down to Galveston, to check it out. Lots of cool stuff down there, including The Original Mexican Cafe, and the Atlantic Ocean. Got to walk through the ocean for a bit. It's warmer than I remember, though I don't think I've ever been on the Gulf side before. Afterwards, we headed into Houston for the night, after hunting down a 24 hour Walmart. Despite my expectations to the contrary, no craziness at Walmart at midnight. It's an awesome town founded by Jean Lafitte (sort of).

Today we headed across Houston to check out Johnson Space Center. It's predominantly kiddie-tourist stuff, but there were a few highlights, like the Saturn V rocket, and tour of the Astronaut Training Facility.

We're staying down on this side of Houston for the day, probably hang out by the pool, mostly.

Also, and an attempt to not be the worst uncle in the world: Happy Birthday Sydney!!!

Greetings from Nature!

So we drove towards the Chihuaha Desert today, but got turned back by the border patrol, who informed us that in addition to other factors, the desert was about 9 hours further out of our way than we'd been told.

we've checked into a KOA campground for the next 2 days, just a few minutes Southeast of San Antonio. Wifi is available throughout the park, so I can type this up while caterpillers drop out of the trees onto my keyboard.

It's also 36 degrees at the moment, so we'll see how hot the tent'll be when we attempt to sleep tonight.

Greetings from San Antonio!

Mend0zA on Saturday, June 12 2010 12:15 AM

Still here in San Antonio. We missed the Alamo (some of the indoor bits, and the Audio Tours) by about 15 minutes. The mall next to/around/under the Alamo is really cool. The San Antonio river runs through it, complete with boat tours, and river side restaurants.

Greetings from the Alamo!

Mend0zA on Friday, June 11 2010 5:50 PM

So here we are in a Starbucks by the Alamo. I think the locals lost the fight because they got sniped from the Marriot next door.

Greetings from Austin!

Mend0zA on Thursday, June 10 2010 7:21 PM

After a very brief stopover at O'Hare, we arrived in Texas around 10:45, and dear lord it's hot here.

Greetings from the Syracuse airport Best Western!

Mend0zA on Thursday, June 10 2010 3:36 AM

It's loud here. And dark. 3 o'clock in the morning is no time for human beings to 'wake up'.

Greetings from Bizarr-o World!

Mend0zA on Wednesday, June 9 2010 9:21 PM

So the Texas Water Safari is apparently cancelled. We're committed to flying into Texas tomorrow, so, uh...yeah.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TEXAS! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAW!

Greetings from Syracuse!

Mend0zA on Wednesday, June 9 2010 8:38 PM

It's rainy here, and they don't have vinegar to put on fries. And chips are fries.

Greetings from the 417!

Mend0zA on Wednesday, June 9 2010 4:02 PM

It's cloudy.

So we got away at a decent time. I'm officially not 100% healthy. We forgot to bring kleenex.

Greetings from Ottawa!

Mend0zA on Wednesday, June 9 2010 1:16 PM

It's sunny here!
